"Mayan Grill"
Oil and latex on painted plaster walls
approx. 20' X 20' room
ca. 1989
Painted illusion of stonework and plants.
These are smooth flat walls. All stonework and plants are completely flat and smooth to the touch.
The 1-inch ledge at the base of the statues is the only real relief in the entire mural (a chair rail that runs the perimeter of the restaurant.) Even this is "broken into blocks" with paint.
Inscribed beneath all statuary is an inscription describing who the depicted gods are.
