Taos Frame
Fir and hammered tin
approx. 5 ft. X 6 ft.
ca. 1990

Unassembled pieces.

A famous wood-carver in Taos (Nicolai Fechin) created the language of the patterns in this frame. Once understood, the designs seem to make themselves, adapting to any form base.

The frame was enhanced with hammered tin details, a common medium in 19th century New Mexico as nothing was wasted - not even tin cans.

Robinson residence.
Calabasas, CA
