Puzzle Lamp
Glazed wood and iron
approx. 6 ft. tall
ca. 1990
Made of salvaged computer and electronics parts and lightening rods.
The lamp seems to float as the arrangement of the wood in the standard makes it appear as though there are no visible contiguous parts holding up the lamp.
The piece is a flexible, unfixed puzzle which must be assembled in a specific order. If any one of the lightening rods is removed, the piece will collapse.
A birght white cord disappears into the thin wood, never to be seen again. One can see the electrical elements inside underneath the lamp head, but no wire connection. The light has a dimmer on its standard.
(The inset vase is from another picture overlapping this one in my old portfolio and is not part of the lamp.)
Private residence.
