"Orgell Dining Room"
Oil on painted plaster
approx. 8' X 18'
ca. 1997
The exquisitely elegant dining room of Mrs. Orgell required more than flat painted walls as a backdrop. Trompe l'oeil is often considered more extravagant and interesting than actual stone detailing. Many of Europe's greatest palaces used trome l'oeil in their most elegant rooms.
Here you see the illusion of painted marble panels and columns with sandstone mouldings and trim on the east and south walls of her Beverly Hills penthouse dining room.
