"Africa & Treasure Island"
Latex on painted plaster walls
2 large rooms
ca. 1994
While working in an experimental internet development office for Sun Microsystems Smallworks Studio in Aspen in 1994, president Bill Joy recommended me to one of his neighbors on Red Mountain as a muralist.
I took a break, got out all the old National Geographics, and proceeded to turn the family's former gymnasium into an African playroom and the small children's 2-storey bedroom into Treasure Island.
As is often the case, I took my pictures upon completion of my work but not after completion of the rooms, hence the visible construction.
The main subject of the room is
"Families: adults and their babies".
Keep your eyes open for hidden doorways and mirrors.
